And the painting has finished

That is one cute white cottage. I ended up getting a professional painter in as I would take 15 years to finish.  Unfortunately they have had to cut the wisteria back and the paint spray has damaged the hedges but both with grow back.

And now I have new tenants moving in. I don't get to live in my home now it is renovated. Isn't that always the way!

architect...mike brewerton of accento architects

we are lucky enough now in grange (brisbane, queensland) to have mike brewerton living amongst us. in fact he is renovating a property only a few blocks from me. 

i met mike about a week or so ago and he's sent me the link to his new website showcasing his architectural work and interior design work both here in brisbane and in new zealand. 

i have a crush on the house below and it's before and after photos. a white house off course. 

mike is old school with his techniques, meaning he doesn't use auto cad or any such program for his sketches or plans which is brilliant. more earthy, more.....what would you say......more organic?

reading the 600 and something unread posts in google reader today, i thought i would share some of my favourites.

the first being some pictures on erin's house or turquoise blog post titled lee ann thornton. firstly a fan of the turquoise piping on the cushions, huge fan of the cabinetry and the tap ware. 

next in line is the black dining chairs! absolutely divine. the black cabinetry, the black and white tiles - luving it. seen on elements of style blog, with the post titled lonny anniversary issue faves

a bit of good photography

 

 

i really like discovering new websites by crawling from blog to blog. today i came across a tricia joyce inc - artist representative. there looks like there is no common thread between the different pictures above, yet tricia joyce inc represents these brilliant photographers. a lot of fashion yet a came across some good lifestyle and location shots. something to help me dream for the night. i am so over tired and need to go to bed desperately yet i am blogging to avoiding cleaning my house before going to bed. and no, i don't have time to clean on the weekend as i am off to help my brother and sister paint their house one and a half hours away so they can get it on the market in time for the spring auctions. i still haven't finished the front of my house! what the hell am i doing???

i was surfing elle decor's website and came across a reference to victoria hagan and the pending publication of her new book hictoria hagan: interior portrait. definitely one i will get asap! available in october apparently. i am pre ordering.

part of the way through....slowing making a difference with a little antique white usa and a big sander

i have one more day then i am back at work. this was the house yesterday....i am a long way.....a long..long way behind my schedule. the schedule was to have the front finished. yet i am such a perfectionist; if there is any paint flaking, it comes off. and so does the rest of the paint around it. paint stripping the vj ceilings under the gables with a gas torch is painful. it is such a slow, boring and messy job, but i won't ever have to strip it again in 5 years. it will be a simple job of a new coat of paint. as one of my neighbours said today..."beck, no one is going to use a magnifying glass to check your painting, just paint over it". but i will know! and that will kill me every time i have to walk past it with my eyes open.

white beautiful white.....white interiors to inspire you

it doesn't matter how much i like white, a clutter free white home is not for me. i'm not neat enough, i have two very active dogs and brown dirt. i am still going for a mostly white palette, yet slashes of black and red, only because i own so much red, will have to suffice. i still dream of painting my timber floors white. i don't think i have the courage though.

paul massey.....can't keep away from this home

i haven't seen these photos of photographer paul massey's house yet. i could easy live here. i would love to collect the le creuset cookware set in white. bit of an expense though. particulary for someone who doesn't cook much.
