pot racks in the kitchen

don't these pictures look divine. i am really keen on the idea of pot racks in the kitchen. sauspans, pans, pots and scales. it would mean i have to invest in some nice pots....and as i don't cook much at least they will stay nice and shiny....but also look amazing. what a good use of space.

turquoise painted floors and windsor smith

of all places, i find information on what to paint my floors with in instyle magazine! the 2nd picture below of the turquoise floors was featured on page 238 of october 2010 australian instyle. they recommend using cabot's cfp water-based gloss for timber floors. i popped onto their website and can't see any colours or any information that there paint isn't just a clear gloss. hmmm more research required.

i also popped across to a post on high-heeled foot in the door to have a look at their handy work with painting their floor a similar colour. they used a paint called break-through. looks good. great inspiration. the question is should i still paint my floors white or choose another colour like turquoise? i have red couches....turquoise might look like a joke. perhaps i just recover the couches?

a little retro white kitchen

so my kitchen cupboards are retro. i am not quite sure as to the age of my house yet it might be as late as 1930s. its a triple gabled queenslander cottage, which is typically a 1910s to 1930s house, yet the kitchen is a little younger in style. perhaps even 1940s.

i took some chrome table legs off a old laminate retro table that my mum had which was falling apart, and i would like to use them in the kitchen as sort of a kitchen table/chopping table. now to find matching chairs for me retro white kitchen!

quirky old style kitchen and other kitchen ideas for my cottage

so the trestles are going back today, yet the front isn't finished so it will take me a few more weekend with ladders etc. the next project to finish (as i have already started) is the kitchen. stripping back the rest of the vj's, painting it white, and then paining the cupboards. i am going to raise the kick board as well so the cupboards will be elevated as they are very low at the moment, and i get a sore neck if i try and prepare some dinner. i have been thinking of painting the cupboards black, yet i think i will go white. at least it is easier to paint black over white if i don't like it. if it was the other way around, i would have to strip back to bare timber again. too hard basket.

below is some inspiration. i really like the shelves in the dining room. i am thinking about doing something similar in my dining room, yet that is a project for another year.

marble subway tiles....

i love nothing more than white kitchens with subway tiles. im also liking the stools.

i'm 100% now on replacing my bathroom door with a barn door. i just have to buy the hardware, find or make the door and away i go. wish me luck.

i haven't seen these photos of photographer paul massey's house yet. i could easy live here. i would love to collect the le creuset cookware set in white. bit of an expense though. particulary for someone who doesn't cook much.

kitchen freestanding cabinet or shelves?

i am torn between adding more fixed wall cupboards as part of my kitchen, which will contract the current 1930s slightly art deco cupboards, or do i just have a free standing cupboard such as below. i love the idea. finding the cupboard to restore is another challenge in itself. perhaps an old wardrobe??

i started painting my window seat nook in the lounge room black today. might not be the smartest idea but i am sure i will find out in the very near future. the question is how much monocromatic colour to splash.

i have borrowed which heather clawson from the habitually chic blog. the pictures are of jenna lyon's house which was featured in livingetc and domino.
