and the fun begins

i usually take on a little too much yet perhaps this time i have gone insane. not only have i moved to the sunshine coast to run three real estate offices......i'm also doing the renovations i have been meaning to do for years so that i can rent the house out....only to a friend though!  god forbit a stranger be allowed to touch my gardens.
the kitchen will now be the 2nd bedroom, and the second bedroom will now be the kitchen. oh and i'm doing the bathroom as well. now that was fun. i'm good at distruction, just not so good at completing construction.

so the first dilema. i have to move a window. i can't have the gas cooktop directly underneath the window. i'm thinking of doing a higher long narrow window now which will also give me more privacy, considering that wall faces the street.

where else to look for ideas then my favorite website showing work of owen and vokes architects. i've sold property for paul owen before and now i hear that one of his creations might be coming on the market. if only it was at noosa.

taps with my new butler sink for the kitchen relocation & renovation

i'm off to traditional taps this week who are the same company as belfast sinks and ceramic kitchen sinks

they have a sale happening and i am in need of a butlers sink, taps for my bathroom and kitchen plus some other bits and pieces. good timing with the sale!

so i thought i would do some quick research on what taps to use in the kitchen with a butlers sink. i really want a slightly deco feel yet that is almost impossible on my budget in australia. maybe the next house is the deco house.

subway tiles...in white

subway tiles have always been a favorite for a period queenslander cottage. my current dilemma is what height to take them too in the bathroom though? ceiling or shower height?
and for the kitchen, i love love love them laid diagonally. little challenging though. i'm going shopping for tiles this weekend!

i'm definitely having shelves above my kitchen cabinets such as this. better work out the brackets before i tile though. didn't think of that. oops!

i'm going to have a tiled shower tray rather than a shower over bath. i do like the seamless glass shower screen and i also like the little shelf above the pedestal basin.

pot racks in the kitchen

don't these pictures look divine. i am really keen on the idea of pot racks in the kitchen. sauspans, pans, pots and scales. it would mean i have to invest in some nice pots....and as i don't cook much at least they will stay nice and shiny....but also look amazing. what a good use of space.

kitchen ideas.....bars, black subway tiles, marble subway tiles and white stools

there are so many funky bars with great interior design ideas to borrow. one of my favorites to date is the pict i found on habachy designs.  it is the bar from the nightclub called aurum, in atlanta, georgia.

perhaps an all black kitchen.  hmmmm. i am not going to be able to sleep at all tonight.

contemporary kitchen island bench and subway tiles

subway tiles, kitchenware on display and a kitchen island bench. it's a thought; moving the sink into the middle of the kitchen.....could work. out comes the tape measure.

kitchen freestanding cabinet or shelves?

i am torn between adding more fixed wall cupboards as part of my kitchen, which will contract the current 1930s slightly art deco cupboards, or do i just have a free standing cupboard such as below. i love the idea. finding the cupboard to restore is another challenge in itself. perhaps an old wardrobe??
