and the fun begins

i usually take on a little too much yet perhaps this time i have gone insane. not only have i moved to the sunshine coast to run three real estate offices......i'm also doing the renovations i have been meaning to do for years so that i can rent the house out....only to a friend though!  god forbit a stranger be allowed to touch my gardens.
the kitchen will now be the 2nd bedroom, and the second bedroom will now be the kitchen. oh and i'm doing the bathroom as well. now that was fun. i'm good at distruction, just not so good at completing construction.

so the first dilema. i have to move a window. i can't have the gas cooktop directly underneath the window. i'm thinking of doing a higher long narrow window now which will also give me more privacy, considering that wall faces the street.

where else to look for ideas then my favorite website showing work of owen and vokes architects. i've sold property for paul owen before and now i hear that one of his creations might be coming on the market. if only it was at noosa.

colour of the moment...banana yellow.....citron...sunshine yellow

being that i am painting my house all white (slowly), i am dying to put some awnings on the front sunroom. i can't decide on the colour though. i either want stripy yellow or grey. i know the yellow will date quicker yet it could look so good.

i am buying a bright purple wisteria to grow up the side of the porch / sunroom, yet perhaps i should get a white one instead. will that be too boring?

windows or shutters

i was drifting around the mycostalhome blog and found the following pictures, which are originally from Myhomeideas. im keen on the shutters in the bedroom and the bed base, as at the moment my king size matress sits on the floor....and has for about 2 years. i don't mind it being that low to be honest.

dilemma fix...decorative window security

I can't go past an eBay bargain. It is very dangerous as every little spend amounts on my credit card.

I couldn't let this opportunity go though. I have just bought the above 15 decorative cast iron panels from someone near Maroochydore, Sunshine Coast. I paid a total of $92.55 which I think is an absolute bargain. If these were for sale at The Little Red Shed, a 2nd hand renovation shop and yard, then I am sure they would be about $50 each.

So this is my theory; using the cast iron panels as window security. They are as wide as my windows, yet about 50cm short in height. Yet if I place them in the middle, only a very small child could squeeze through to break in, and I'm am sure they would decide it is in the too hard basket. Below are some examples I managed to find of cast iron panels used in similar applications.

good looking security bars

Pattern inspiration.

I have to get a steel manufacturer to make me a grill for my front window, as I have taken out the sunroom windows, so my house security is compromised a little. Most of the houses in my street don't have security grills, but I don't want to be the first example of a break in. My dilemma is to make any security measures I take look more like attractive features. I'm thinking powder coated laser cut steel. First thing is first, designs!
