what paint to use to paint your floors white

Share
I have googled so many times what paint to use to paint my pine floors white. Some suggest painting timber floors with a marine paint, which is like a 2 pac epoxy, others suggest white washed floors. I have been told to keep away from enamel paint to paint my floors white, as enamel can yellow over time.

I have two dogs, both white/cream (when clean!), so a white floor would work well for my family, which consists of myself and the two dogs.
A lot of references are made to

I did find a great article on countrylife.co.uk which provides two options, in an article titled How to paint white floorboards

They recommend a brand called Farrow & Ball for white painted floors.

Their website describes their floor paint as follows:

Available in all colours so an ideal way of treating timber or concrete floors. This tough, oil based paint, with a classic eggshell finish, is becoming increasingly popular. Stylish and practical, Farrow & Ball Floor Paint is suitable for use in virtually every area of the house, from hallways to kitchens, as well as bathrooms, utility rooms, playrooms and offices.

  • Available in all colours.
  • Preparation use an oil/aluminium based primer for wooden floors.
  • 40% sheen level.
  • Completely washable.
And there are so many colour options. I prefer the following: All White, Strong White, Wimborne White, Great White & James White. There is a blog i came across which has used Farrow & Ball paints. The Yvestown Blog. Below is the picture from the blog using Farrow & Ball floor paint in Elephant Breath. Other Farrow & Ball Paints in pictures
